Cons: Her tests are hard as shit
Study really hard for the tests and do well in lab
Cons: Lectures aren't very structured, she is kind of hard to follow and throws you lots of information
Cons: tests are hard
Cons: BORING
Class is SO BORING! She tries really hard to make it interesting by trying to get the class involved and showing pictures, etc but I guess I just hate plants and whatnot. It was such a struggle to stay awake. Study the notes for the tests and you'll be golden. Be sure to write down what she SAYS in addition to what she puts on the board.
Cons: None
Take her, and not Bowling!
Cons: not many
Cons: tests are a lot of materail
Cons: tests were hard, the final was brutal.
Organismal is a very interesting class but it was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. I did not mind lecture but I could not do well on the tests. She is very passionate about this subject and is super nice and helpful when you go talk to her. Old tests are helpful for her class and I am sure if you ask around people have them. She gives bonus quizzes the class before each tests that really help. Attendance is not taken, I went to every lecture and got a D (which I am proud of) but many people never went to lecture and made better than I. It was just not a subject that came easy for me at all.
Cons: Slow in her teaching so you are behind in the labs.
Cons: Dr. Folkerts does not always clearly explain every structure that she discusses.
Cons: Her tests were pretty hard but you should be fine if you study really hard and wayyyy before the test. Find old tests but don't rely on them too much, she changes the questions up pretty well.
She's very fun and energetic. She brings in ALOT of different things to pass around, anything from snakes to fungi and more. I would def. recommend her to anyone who is willing to study. She doesn't have a cake-walk class.
Cons: test difficult if you didn't study old test
